My friend Matt Robertson, who I originally met at the limestone cliffs at Sella, Spain, has been living as an American expatriate in Taiwan for the last few years. During that time he’s been doing lots of traditional-style climbing out at Long Dong, a spectacular sea cliff climbing area on the northeast coast of Taiwan. A couple years ago Matt wrote a guide to the trad climbs at Long Dong. I was happy to be part of that book project by editing the manuscript and giving him some suggestions.
Matt has graciously allowed me to select a sampling of photographs from Long Dong as well as text from a magazine article he wrote that was published in an Asian climbing magazine, and to post both words and photos as a photo gallery here. To check out the next great Asian climbing destination, go to Long Dong, Taiwan Climbing Photo Gallery. I’ve been wanting to get over there and go climbing…now if I can just scrape together enough time and dollars…
