Definition of Climbing Slang Word

Flash

When a climber leads a route, which he has never attempted before, from the ground up without falling or hanging on the rope. An on-sight flash is one that is made without any beta or prior knowledge of the route; while a beta flash is one made with knowledge of the routes features and movements.

Usage: Climber says after cruising up Vision Thing at Rifle Mountain Park, “Wow, I flashed that route! I am so happy!”
