Gobies
Open cuts and sores, often infected or bloody, on a climber’s hands, usually from jamming his hands in cracks with sharp crystals inside or from banging his knuckles and the backs of his hands while climbing for several days on a big wall.
Usage: Climber, sitting on the Camp Four ledge halfway up El Cap’s Nose route, says, “Hey buddy, ya got some first-aid cream for these gobies on my hand? They hurt like heck!”
