Aiders

Aiders are portable ladders, usually made of one-inch nylon webbing and with four to six steps or rungs, which are used by an aid climber to stand in because the rock is featureless or too steep to free climb. Aiders are often used on big walls, like the routes on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley. Also called stirrups and étriers.
