Jumars

A Swiss-made mechanical device (manufactured by Jümar, with handles for handholds and teethed cams to grip a rope. They are used as a pair, one for the right hand and one for the left hand, and used to ascend a fixed rope. They process of ascending the rope with these tools is called jumaring. Climbers and cavers also use other ascenders to climb ropes.
