Definition of Climbing Equipment Word

Rack

Rack refers to a climber’s entire collection of climbing equipment and gear as well as to the specific pieces of gear, including nuts and cams, which are needed to safely protect and climb a particular climbing route. A rack for a sport climb will only be a certain number of quickdraws, while the rack for a big wall route might include double sets of Camalots and Stoppers, three ropes, five hooks, and assorted other trick devices.
