The Bridger Jack Spires are a collection of semi-detached towers on a long sawtoothed ridge at the west end of Indian Creek Canyon, just east of Canyonlands National Park. Ed Webster was the driving force behind the first ascent of all these spires in the early 1980s. One of his best routes and one that offers face climbing, a relative rarity on the Utah desert towers, is Learning to Crawl (5.11c). This stellar route, ascending the edge of an arête on the small tower Thumbelina, was established in October of 1984 by Ed and Jeff Achey.
