Doupiani Rock looms above the village of Katastraki. The 300-foot-high free-standing butte offers more routes than any other at Meteora. They're of all grades and easily accessible from the road below and the village. Here Cristos Batalogianis dances up the old two-pitch route "Ostkante" (5.7) on Doupiani. The route follows the long east ridge, passing the ruins of an abandoned monastery built above a horizontal crack.
