Joe Klementovich slots his hand above a small roof on Nutcracker, one of best single-pitch routes on Cathedral Ledge just west of the resort village of North Conway in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Cathedral Ledge and neighboring Whitehorse Ledge, lying within Echo Lake State Park, form the most popular rock climbing area in northern New Hampshire. Every weekend, climbers from the northeastern United States and Quebec flock here to climb their blues away.
