Definition of a Climbing Word

Finger Jam

A finger jam is a crack climbing technique to ascend finger cracks, which are cracks the width of a climber’s fingers. It involves wedging or jamming the climber’s fingers in the narrow crack to make vertical progress. A solid finger jam where the climber opposes his thumb and forefinger in the crack is called a fingerlock.
